Equity Consulting Services

Founded in 2008 by Justin Sampas, Equity Consulting Services was formed as a business entity where Justin could consult current clients, new client, and friends in their various business ventures. Over the past couple of years consulting has brought Justin in contact with a variety of businesses and success stories; here are some of them.

Bullpen Sports Bar

I enjoyed this business venture as I am a regular at the Bullpen on Sundays and want an exciting sports bar filled with entertaining guests, great football games, food and drink specials. I had wanted in years past having worked for a marketing company to send mailers out to local businesses to promote their lunch menu but it never ended up happening, but I always wanted to market in some way for the bullpen as Scott was and currently is a gracious owner and I want his sports bar to rock on Sundays while I am watching football!

I got the call early summer from a gentleman that used to be a manager at a company I used to be a part owner of. He was at the bullpen as he was the one that introduced me to the staff and owner and was getting some dinner after work just before going home. He told me the owner did not have my phone number and wanted to get a hold of me. I told him that I would be in his sports bar the next evening and the meeting was set.

Scott was glad to see me and wanted to have me promote Sunday football in the bar during the games. He wanted me on a microphone to inform the guests of the drink and food specials that we would feature weekly and to giveaway promotion items that were usually supplied by the liquor companies. I accepted the job and immediately made a few key suggestions for Sundays during the NFL season.

1. Set up a buffet, charge a flat rate all you can eat from 9:30-11:00am
2. Have a drink and beer special each week that is priced aggressively compared to the competition.
3. Have a raffle of some sort that the customers have to watch both games to win, keeping customers in the sports bar for 6+hours.

The combination of these suggestions and the Bullpen’s already friendly and competent staff made Sundays a blast. The buffet was a success among the customers, with a custom omelet station and no less than 9 choices of items each week to add to the omelet. The buffet came with eggs, hash browns, fruit, French toast, bacon, sausage, and a weekly special. This is where the chef was able to be creative each week and some unique items such as eggs Benedict, enchiladas, breakfast sandwich, and many more. Come to think of it he also changed the pastries weekly as we would change from blueberry muffins to scones to jelly glazed donuts to banana nut muffins. This also helped the staff as they were not running plates of food out of the kitchen the first couple of hours and were more focused on customer services. The drink specials were great as $2.50 pints and $3.00 shots are a great price on Sunday. The bullpen was gracious enough to raffle off items ranging from shirts to hats and even a neon sign. The raffle was a great way to meet the customers face, get feedback on their experience and then make and necessary changes to make them happy.

Overall, this was a great business relationship over the 2010 NFL season and one that I would like to continue in the future. I still go and have lunch there from time to time and the food is always great.

Coast 2 Coast Ridaz

Justin Sampas had the opportunity to do business consulting for the motorcycle club Coast 2 Coast Ridaz and it happened by chance at the gym. I was lifting at 24 hour fitness on a regular basis and not only joined a group of people that worked out at the same time I was also introduced to many of their friends that trained also trained at the gym. One of the people that I was introduced to was named Allen “AD” Asberry. Allen trained hard and was pound for pound one of the strongest guys in the gym. When Allen’s lifting partners family had their third child he was unable to train the hours we were there and he started training with my friends that I trained with.

It was not until about six months into training that I found out AD is the national president and founder of a National motorcycle club that has 8 chapters, 20+ members, and had been running it for six years. I asked him each time we lifted how the club was going and what he was looking to accomplish in the future. I asked him if they get any deals on the venues they visit or discounts on motorcycle equipment they purchase? He told me know and I asked him if he wanted to change that. From there we had the discussion of could a motorcycle club have affiliations with corporations in that same fashion that other large clubs and corporations work together, why not? Once we agreed in theory that this task could be accomplished we started meeting a couple of times a week to brainstorm on how we could make club better. There were many different strategies that we came up with as there is no exact science to this, only determination and the will to keep trying new ideas. We felt that if we tackled a few main objectives first it would better enable us to work efficiently

1. Communicate with member that the website was going to be used to communicate to all member nationally, have a calendar of future events, and a directory if a member needs to look up another member.
2. A Review of the bylaws and do all the chapters follow the same set of bylaws? This was a touchy subject as I did not want to change the identity of the club but I suggested that in writing a few things such as dues, patches, prospecting period, etc have some uniformity.
3. That merchandise orders are made on a national level and that chapters can bring bids to national. Clubs were ordering before as a single club and not getting the benefit of a bulk buying power of a national club.
4. To make aware that 3rd parties were profiting on their site and not giving back to C2C, and a course of action so that C2C retains the earnings of their site.
5. To promote AD’s career as a music artist, and have these events spin off into C2C VIP events.
6. To evaluate which events that C2C participated in over the last year were good/bad, and invest time accordingly.

This has been a great project and progress is amazing. The website has 300-500% more traffic on it from members in less than 180 days which means the communication factor has improved. The clubs came together nationally in November and agreed on a national set of bylaws that their direct feedback and input produced. I was able to be one of the speakers at that event and if congress moved as efficiently as this club did in three hours America would benefit from it. Finally, AD has been booked for some big shows in 2011, it’s going to be a big year!

Testimonial from Coast 2 Coast Ridaz M.C.

Since working with equity consulting I have become more sound minded on how an organization should be ran from the business aspect. We've taken my company and established procedures and guidelines in a short amount of time in order for us to be more effective as a whole. Although I was hesitant about the process at 1st, it has become very clear to me that my organization, with time and guidance from equity consulting, is definitely moving in the right direction to make us the absolute best at our profession. By empowering us with effective upper level management skills and unlimited resources, we have taken a turn for the better with proves to be very noteworthy in the future.
